The next Sturge Weber UK Family Weekend will be held at
the Pioneer Centre in Kidderminster
from Friday 29th April to Monday 2nd May 2005.
All members of the family and friends are welcome, as are professionals.
All the bedrooms are en suite and cater for two adults and two children
There are some small lounges where families can sit to have a chat

Saturday Morning
Registration from 10.30am for those arriving on Saturday. Discussion groups where we can share our stories and experiences.
Saturday Afternoon
After lunch there will be two workshops.
Liz Ranger will tells us about the work of Contact a Family and the help and services that are available to families.
The Red Cross will demonstrate the use of camouflage make up.
Saturday Evening
After the evening meal we will hold our annual raffle which will be followed by a falconry display. There will be organised team games for the children.
Sunday
The Family Day on Sunday begins at 10.30am with coffee served from 10.00am. Lunch and refreshments are included and the day finishes at approximately 4.00pm.

Dr. Sarah Aylett - Consultant Paediatric Neurologist at Great Ormond Street Children`s Hospital, London
Talking about the two year study carried out by Dr. Peter Rankin. Peter will not be able to be with us because his wife is expecting a baby around this time.
Maartje van de Meij - Postdoctoral Researcher, who has been working with Dr. Peter Rankin after completing her MSc course in Neuropsychology at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands
Mr. Hiroshi Nishikawa - Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Birmingham Children`s Hospital - The Surgical Management of Vascular Anomalies: a multidisciplinary approach.
Dr. Miriam Conway - from Aston University will talk about the study we are funding into ocular and cerebral blood flow in SW patients
Neurosurgery - Speaker to be confirmed
Sunday Evening
There will be a family disco after the evening meal.
For the Children
Every evening there will be plenty of toys to keep the children entertained.
Childsplay Mobile Crèche will be with us again. They will take care of the children all day on Saturday and Sunday. They are first aid trained and will be bringing table top and craft activities, so the children will be able to make a momento to take home. There will be toys and games to suit all levels and ages.
The younger ones in the crèche will be able to have fun in the ball pond and take part in the inflatable obstacle course. We also have face painting and an entertainer.
For the older children we have organised the following activities:

There will be the usual toys donated by Little Tykes available all weekend to occupy the children. We also have Football Table, 6 in 1 Powerplay Sports Table, Rock It, Goal Blaster, Electronic Victory at Sea and Twister all donated by Argos.
Cost
The whole Family Weekend from Friday until after lunch on Monday is £50 per adult, this includes all meals and entertainment. There will be no charge for the children.
