Going away can be stressful at the best of times as you have to organise flights, accomodation, injections and travel insurance etc.
But when a family member has a life-long condition including epilepsy, getting appropriate travel insurance can be a bit of a minefield. When looking at insurance make sure it meets the needs of the person with a pre-existing medical condition and that you also look at the exclusions (what the policy doesn’t cover).
If you are going away but the person with the life-long condition is staying at home, tell your insurance company about their condition. If you have to cut short your holiday because of their condition, your insurance might not cover you because you didn’t inform them about it.
Some members have recently had difficulty in finding appropriate travel insurance so I have put together a quick go to guide!
